Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is the immigration status that allows you to live and work in the UK permanently, without any time restriction on your visa. Once granted, ILR removes the need for further visa applications and is the step before British citizenship for most applicants.
Standard ILR applications can take up to six months to be decided. A priority service is available for a decision within five working days, and a super priority service aims to deliver a decision by the next working day. Our team advises on which service is most appropriate for your circumstances.
No. Travelling outside the UK while an ILR application is pending will result in the application being withdrawn. You must remain in the UK until a decision is made. If travel is unavoidable due to an emergency, contact us for advice before departing.
On most routes, you can apply up to 28 days before your qualifying period is complete. For example, on the Skilled Worker route the qualifying period is five years. Applying at the earliest opportunity means your application is submitted and in the queue sooner. We advise on the correct timing for your specific route.
