What We Handle

Our Spouse & Partner Visa Services

We advise on all stages of the spouse and partner visa route — from initial entry clearance through to settlement.

Spouse Visa — Entry Clearance

We assist spouses of British citizens and settled persons applying to come to the UK for the first time. We advise on eligibility, prepare the application, and guide you through the process from submission to decision.

Unmarried Partner Visa

Unmarried and same-sex partners can apply under the partner visa route where a genuine relationship of two years or more can be demonstrated. We advise on the evidence required and manage the application on your behalf.

Fiancé Visa

A fiancé visa allows a partner to come to the UK to marry. We advise on the application process and the steps required following arrival — including the switch to a spouse visa after the marriage takes place.

Visa Extension

Partner visa holders are initially granted leave for 30 months. We assist with the extension application at the end of that period, ensuring continuity of leave and progress towards settlement.

Settlement — Indefinite Leave to Remain

After five years on the partner visa route, applicants become eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain. We advise on eligibility, prepare the supporting documents, and manage the ILR application on your behalf.

Refusals & Appeals

Where a spouse or partner visa application has been refused, we advise on the options available — including administrative review and appeal — and represent clients in challenging Home Office decisions.

The Spouse & Partner Visa Route

What the Spouse & Partner Visa Route Involves

The spouse and partner visa route allows the partners of British citizens and settled persons to live in the UK. The route follows a structured path — initial entry clearance, a 30-month extension, and then settlement after five years — provided the relationship remains genuine and the financial requirements are met throughout.

Applications are assessed against a number of requirements covering the relationship, finances, accommodation, and English language. Preparing a thorough, well-evidenced application is the most effective way to ensure a successful outcome. Our team advises on all of these requirements and prepares applications on your behalf.

Speak to Our Team

Genuine Relationship

The Home Office requires evidence that the relationship is genuine and subsisting. This includes evidence of how the couple met, communication records, photographs, and evidence of time spent together.

Financial Requirement

The sponsoring partner must meet a minimum income requirement. We advise on how this is demonstrated and what financial evidence is needed — including employment records, payslips, and bank statements.

Accommodation

The couple must demonstrate that they have adequate accommodation in the UK. We advise on what evidence is required and how to present it as part of the application.

English Language

Most applicants are required to demonstrate English language ability. We advise on the accepted methods of meeting this requirement and what to prepare in advance of the application.

Common Questions

Spouse & Partner Visa FAQs

Processing times vary depending on where the application is made and which service tier is selected. Applications made from outside the UK at a visa application centre are typically decided within 12 weeks, though priority services are available for a faster decision. Applications made from inside the UK on the partner route are generally decided within 8 weeks on the standard service.
Yes. Unmarried couples — including same-sex couples — can apply under the partner visa route where they can demonstrate that they have been living together for at least two years. The application requires evidence of the living arrangement and the genuine nature of the relationship.
The exact documents required depend on the individual circumstances of the application. Generally, applications require evidence of the relationship, evidence that the financial requirement is met, evidence of suitable accommodation in the UK, and evidence of English language ability. Our team advises on the specific documents needed for your application and reviews everything before submission.
An initial spouse or partner visa is granted for 33 months where the application is made from outside the UK, or 30 months where it is made from inside the UK. At the end of this period, an extension application must be made to continue on the route to settlement.
Most applicants on the partner route become eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain after completing five years of continuous leave in the UK. The five-year period typically comprises an initial visa and one extension. Our team advises on eligibility and manages the ILR application when the time comes.
